Hi, Mel here.
Thanks for the feedback on our logo ideas. The clear winner was “B”… annnnd we’ve already changed it again. We thought it best to get it right before going “public”.
Here’s what it looked like…
The colours felt a bit too outdoorsy camping shop, so we went back to our original stickman logo colours (which had Ben’s Copy Or Die yellow, and my coral) and added in a bright accent colour. And…
I sent Ben dozens and dozens of colour schemes and mockups, and this is definitely the most “us”. Feels much more indie 90s/00s album cover/tracksuity than the green and orange. And this one won’t clash with our LinkedIn profiles when we post about Indie Business Club.
Last week we saw each other in actual 3D real life. It only happens about twice a year so we made the most of it by having a Travelodge photoshoot with lovely Ange Lyons. If you don’t know her, Ange is one of those annoying people who is good at everything.
And you can’t even be mad about it because she’s so lovely.
I spliced us into Canva and created some graphics for the podcast…
We’d love to know what you think about the new look. Unless you hate it. Coz we don’t have the strength to look at any more colours.
OoO
Creator Day was great fun, we saw loads of friends, met new people, and had an early morning dip in the sea. Oh and of course Ben and his Copy Or Die co-founder Dave delivered their talk, which was my initial reason for going. Well done, lads.
Thank you Mark Masters for organising it all, and for my lovely birthday cake. Thanks to Ange, Bonnie, Soph, Molly, Alice, and everyone else we had loadsa fun with.
Community
We’ll probably talk about “community” quite a lot more on our podcast. Sometimes the word feels so overused it becomes an empty cliché.
But when you gather likeminded people together and do it right? Phewph. It can be so powerful.
In Poole there were tonnes of sidebar conversations going on. Chats about books, new podcasts (not just ours), content ideas, processes, business offers and more. Partnerships (incidentally, the topic of Ben and Dave’s talk) are absolutely vital as indie business owners.
And on that note, Ben and I have partnered with lovely Ant Henderson on our podcast theme tune and production.
But more on that next time.
Until then,
B&M
